George Taliaferro was the first African American drafted in the NFL. Beginning his football career at Indiana University for the Hoosiers team, he played in the NFL for the New York Yanks from 1950 to 1951, the Dallas Texans in 1952, the Baltimore Colts from 1953 to 1954, and Philadelphia Eagles in 1955. Taliaferro was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1981.
These cleats were worn by George Taliaferro and are apart of The Crispus Attucks Museum. This site is one of the many Indianapolis Community and Cultural Heritage Organizations that was selected to highlight the history of Indianapolis. IUPUI University Library is collaborating with Connections XR to preserve and provide access to 3D objects using generous funding from the Indianapolis Foundation, Library Fund.
Everything was 3D scanned using a Creaform Go! Scan Spark. Once scanned the data was cleaned up and optimized using our proprietary in house pipeline and published on Sketchfab.
